Let's talk about The Trickster because in typical Gemini fashion, a lot of tricks are being played this season in both our personal and collective lives -- and depending on how you look at it, this is ultimately a good thing. The Trickster figure is an archetypal pattern which we share across cultures, and also within each of our Cosmological Spirits. Even if you're not a Gemini Sun or aren't aware of any Gemini placements -- trust me, there's a Trickster in you, too. It's a place where you can Trick others or even yourself and through doing so achieve a higher level of spiritual realization. A Trick is not a Lie or Dishonesty as we understand it. A Trick is more like Magic -- it's Two Truths existing at once which confronts us so directly, often in a comedic way. If you're wondering where you have Trickster Energy or where you can be Tricked (in an enlightening way) book one of my Cosmological Readings to learn more.
Famous examples of Tricksters include Robin Williams, Norm MacDonald, and Oscar Wilde. Spiritual examples of Trickster include Coyote and Fox from indigenous folklore, Buddha, and Jesus Christ. So, don't worry Gemini, you're in amazing company. As you can see with all of these figures, the joke's on you with the Trickster, and yet somehow you're the one who finds yourself laughing with delight. |

Gemini is stewarded by the celestial being, Mercury, whose name came from the "alchemical figure" Mercurius. Jung described Mercurius as having a "a fondness for sly jokes and pranks" and also as figure who ultimately saves the day.
But it's not all laughter and delight at first when the Mercurial, Gemini Trickster energy comes into play (which has only been exacerbated by Jupiter's recent movement into Gemini). It can be even a very troublesome energy at first. Jung also said of The Trickster that it appears "in the unsuspecting modern man-- whenever in fact, he feels himself at the mercy of annoying 'accidents' which thwart his will and his actions with apparently malicious intent.'"
So on the New Moon in Gemini in the early morning of June 6th, reflect on Gemini season so far, which started back on May 21 and ask yourself, have there been any "annoying accidents" thwarting you? Any little frustrations? Have you had any of those days that are just "one of those days" where you couldn't get your way? What about on the political, social, or cultural stage? Any national "accidents" you can think of that may lead you to even deeper enlightenment or spiritual awakening? Gemini is at play year round, it's just that the energy is triply strong right now. |

On this New Moon take a good, long look at those weird occurrences or little "accidents" that lately seem to have been "thwarting" you in some way. Really get honest and take stock of even your most minuscule frustrations. In really sitting and honoring these experiences, the Magic Trick may dawn on you that it was All For You, and for your growth that they happened. You may even find that the source of all the trickery was coming from a much Higher Place than your Ego-Mind can understand. Perhaps the source of the Trickery wasn't the airline's fault, or the phone's fault, or the DMV's fault, or your in-law's fault. Maybe it was, in a tricky way, coming from You all along. The wise and foolish Trickster in You.
An excellent intention to set on this New Moon would be "Help me to see all of the magic tricks that I play on myself each day." In seeing these beautifully frustrating tricks, may you love yourself even more and experience a Buddha-Level illumination of wisdom, clarity, and laughter in our own Divine Foolishness.
Love to you all,
Jane |
